    Strengthening research and extension capacity of KAFACI countries through

Basic Science
- Data analysis of genetic diversity and population structure (sunflower, finger
millet, sesame leaves)
Crop Science
- Knowledge acquisition in QTL Mapping
- Learning how to utilize the software DSSAT 4.7 to model and understand soil
water balance with daily interval of a plot according to the climate

Horticulture Science
- Understanding the effect of modified atmosphere packaging for maintaining the
quality of tomatoes
- Learning how to use bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides such as Chlorella and egg
yolk oil
- Learning the pest control technology using dragon trap, insect seeker and the
method of identifying the insect

Animal Science
- Knowledge acquisition in balanced rations corresponding to the specific animal
needs
- Knowledge acquisition in how automated hydroponic unit are designed and
operated
- Improved comprehension of the methods for feed nutritional composition analysis
- Knowledge acquisition in TMR

Extension
- Understanding Korean extension system and the factors of increasing extension
efficiency

    On-the-Job Training for the researchers from KAFACI Member Countries by the Moroccan scientists trained from the previous On-the-Job Training

    - Preparation of Training material
    - Improved theoretical and practical skills of 12 researchers from leading country:
    1) Using New Generation Sequencing on IonProton platx-form
    2) Improving skills on bioinx-formatics analysis: Linux, Tassel GBS pipepline

KAFACI - AGRA On the job training

    - 2 Principal Investigators of KAFACI Country Project (Cameroon, DR Congo)

Purpose

  • To increase rice productivity through the accelerated development of improved germplasm and varieties in Africa
  • To enhance African rice breeding capacity with anther culture technology
  • To integrate the networks in cooperative research between RDA and African countries

OUTPUT

  • Development of high - yielding and quality irrigated rice cultivars for African countries
  • Strengthen the capacity of rice breeders specifically on anther culture technology
  • Building a network in cooperative research between Korea and African countries

  • To build a network for upcoming KAFACI projects and to boost a sense of belongings between the member countries
  • To provide the participants with a bench-marking opportunity to develop agriculture of the member countries along with inx-formation exchange of technology diffusion through OJT program
